Mountain View Fire responds to over 3,000 emergency calls annually. These 911 calls range from fires to emergency medicals, rescues and assists. This page highlights the most recent calls that the men and women of MVFPD answered.
June 16, 2006: Erie- Firefighters from Mountain View responded to a two vehicle T-bone accident at Hwy 287 and Lookout Road at approx 5:45 pm. Upon arrival firefighters found 1 vehicle with extensive damage and three patients inside and one other patient walking around on scene.
Crews remained on scene for more than two hours to assist with the investigation and clean-up. Hwy 287 was closed during that time and traffic was re-routed around the accident.
May 21, 2006: Memorial Day Erie- Crews from Mountain View responded to a 2 car T-Bone traffic accident at 119th Street/Jasper Road. Upon arrival, Firefighters and Paramedics found 2 cars involved with heavy damage to both vehicles. A total of 3 patients were transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital.
May 21, 2006: Erie- Firefighters from Mountain View, Lafayette, Rocky Mountain, Frederick/ Firestone, Boulder Rural, LEU, Boulder County Paramedics and Pridemark Paramedics responded to a garage fire located at 11874 Billings Ave West of Erie. Upon arrival crews found a garage involved in fire. It took over 45 minutes to bring the fire under control and over 5 hours to overhaul the structure and its contents. Investigators were on scene through the night and ruled the fire, which estimated, caused more than $45,000 worth of damage, as accidental.
May 11, 2006: Niwot- Mountain View responded to 287/Niwot Road for 2 semi's that had collided. Upon arrival Firefighters found two semi trucks involved- one with extremely heavy damage after the trailer had come through the sleeper cab into the driver's compartment. Firefighters used the "Jaws of Life" to extricate the truck driver.
April 18, 2006: Mead- Mountain View, along with Johnstown, Platteville, Milliken and Berthoud Fire responded to a report of a train fire. Upon arrival crews reported four railroad box cars full of mulch as well as 3-100' piles heavily involved in fire threatening a grain bin full of grain and one house. Crews fought the fire for more than 3 days battling heavy smoke and wind. Residents living in the area were displaced for more than a day due to the heavy smoke conditions. The fire was kept contained to the rail cars and mulch piles thanks to the exhausting efforts of firefighters from Mountain View and other surrounding departments!
December 24, 2005: Niwot- Engine 2201, Medic Unit 2224 and Chief 2260 responded to a reported fatal plane crash at Panama Reservoir near 115th Street and Niwot Road. Crews reported two fatalities and contacted the NTSB and the FAA for an investigation. Mountain View crews assisted with the investigation and extrication of both patients.
September 22, 2005: Erie- Engine 2201, Engine 2206, Ladder 2216, Rescue 2226, Rescue 2227, Chief 2260, Chief 2261, Chief 2262, Lafayette Fire Engine 2608 & Chief 2661, Louisville Ladder 2716, BCP, North Metro Engine 63, Ladder 62, Rescue 66 and Erie Police Department responded to a possible water flow alarm. First companies found an activated sprinkler head, fire and heavy heat on the third floor of an apartment complex. After complete search on the entire building, no fire was found.
